Bilge pump replaced but hose has a problem

Hi. I recently replaced the bilge pump of the boat with this thing. There are two hoses, the front one is the drip from the fridge I think, but the rear one is the one that carries the water out. That hose has gotten very stiff over time, and I had to heat up its tip to be able to attach the new pump's output. Anyway, the hose has developed a kink - it reduces the flow of the water by about 50%. This sometimes causes the pump to think that there is more water to be thrown out, and it stays on. (the pump is strange: It decides if it's done by the current it's using right then. If it's below some value, it stops.)
I'm really not sure how to fix this kink, as the other end of the hose is nowhere to be found, I'd have to do a lot of unscrewing and wrestling with floor boards.
I wonder if I were to cut it a few centimeters, would that help? I'm scared to cut it as there is no "oops" possible afterwards.

If that's a Whale Supersub pump - then its crap anyway ... the kink won't be the problem.

I can pee faster than the one I fitted ... no kinks ... well under the max head ... useless. I put my Chinese Seaflo back ... pumps a lot better than that Whale ....

Mine also had a mind of its own about when to pump / stop etc.

Don't think that is a bilge pump even though it is in the bilge. You need to trace where the feed pipe comes from and the outlet pipe goes to. It could well be that it empties the shower sump but it is unusual to locate it in the bulge as well as cutting a hole in the side of the bilge compartment. Normally there would be a pickup point ot a submersible pump in the bilge area.

find a spring that is a good match for the id of the hose, heat the hose where the kink is and push the spring into the kink , thus removing the kink. leave it place.

From what he says it's just the drain from the fridge, if that's the case the most practical solution is to put the drain hose in a plastic bottle and periodically empty it over the side and dispense with the bilge pump and outlet as there is never going to be sufficient water for a bilge pump to evacuate.

If you can find or bend a suitable stainless helical spring, that's a traditional thing to prevent pipes kinking flat.

But an elbow or bent piece of rigid pipe is a good answer, and collecting the fridge water is good too.

Yes it does look similar but the hose at the front is confusing (me at least!) because it looked like it was attached to the pump.

Anyway does not affect the operation of the pump and as in post#6 it is not an appropriate way to deal with the drain from the fridge but would deal with any serious amounts of water getting into that area of the bilge.

OP did say that front pipe was only a drip from the fridge and not connected to pump.

IMHO - the pump is more problem than the kink ... having installed one of these and found it useless ... I can only think OP has similar experience !

Bilge pumps. I’ve yet to find one that really is reliable. I must have fitted 4-5 last year. 2 of which I instantly removed. Just fittted a new one this year. Biggest problem is most don’t self prime.

Self prime is only needed for a pump that is above water level .... otherwise such as the Seaflo I use with built in float switch have no trouble at all .. you just have to accept that an inch of water will remain as the float needs that and more to lift.

Here is what I did - they sell these for hydrolic lines so they don't crease. They gave me a foot of it for free at a Wurst shop.
Seems to have done the trick.. :)
