Big vessel refloatation

'Dunno for sure, P.
I only read that it happened upon haul-out, and if there's any video evidence, they must be unwilling to disclose it...
'Fiuaskme, I'd think that the support under the keel, which with this lifting method must be placed and checked by the divers before pulling the vessel up along the slip, must have collapsed on stbd side under the vessel weight, while progressively it wasn't fully sustained anymore by Archimede's principle.
But it's just an educated guess.
Anyway, if you look at the launch videos on this webpage of the boatyard, you will understand why I'm not sure I would have trusted them to haul out my humble tub...
...Let alone something much bigger even when comparing meters vs. feet!

Maybe, but that would be a weird choice of the method, if you think about it.
In fact, it's very easy to envisage some degree of yard responsibility.
And by some degree, I'd think closer to 100 rather than 90 percent.
So, I'd be surprised if the boat insurer wouldn't go after the yard for a refund.
And no matter how good the yard insurance can be, I'd rather not be its owner....

assuming the yard does have liability or whatnot insurance

J, isn't possibly the notorious Northern Marine accident in the US, that you have in mind?
Much smaller vessel, and it happened upon launch rather than haul-out.
But I also thought that the dynamic might have been similar, when I read of this new case.
Which only happened less than 2 weeks ago, btw.

Yes, that was almost certainly it. Easy mistake to make, wrong country, year, make and colour of boat and launch status. Apart from that, I was close ;)
