Think you need to talk to Learner and get a spread sheet. You mean to say, moved from one crap places with no pubs, Floozies or other worthwhile entertainment. To another?? /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Well it was Brighton to Penton Hook to please the wife then I got fed up with that and moved her (the boat that is) to Chatham. How was I to know the Medway had no pubs. Got me nearer the sea.

Anyway all academic cos I'm off to the the other Med. See my other post Haydn re P385

Re: hlb

Never mind that. Have you checked whether there are any pubs or floozies in the Med yet. Not that Med, the other one.

Not aft some nice pubs in and around my chosen marina, plus Marbella & Estepona to the east, both lively places, should be able to cruise in for lunch or evening drink to either.
West about 20mls Gib, dont know if theres any night life but at least we can use up our English pounds there, what with cheap diesel, cheap fags (£8 for 200) and cheap booze (£5 litre spirit)

I note an important point has been missed from the reasons why the river, not the sea. That is seasickness. The Thames Marinas have many Berth Holders who live on the coast but just do not like or can handle the sea.

Also many of our customers live close to the Thames and get more out of their boats cruising for the odd day or even just using their boat as the occasional weekend cottage.

This does not mean our sea going boats stay on the Thames. Using Chatham as a jumping off place our cruiser clubs often visit coastal destinations and overseas.

The main point is they are on the water!
All the best

I am more than happy to mention Marina Developments. We are marketing the Thames and Chatham under the banner Thames Marinas and Chatham to offer Destination Cruising between us. There is a decline of boats licensed on the Thames and we are trying to make cruising more friendly. As you have noticed MDL has become a far more customer oriented company and this is part of that.

We are introducing many benifits for Club Outlook Members. Such as overnight moorings at hotels with gym, golf, tennis swimming and discounts off food. We will be able to issue tickets next season for Thorpe Park and Legoland. We are supporting cruiser clubs and will be sponsering the 50th ATYC rally next August.

Dan at Chatham has more detail if you want to discuss this but the stratergy to make the rivers more boater friendly has come from the top at Marina Developments.

All the best

Yep only teasing. I have recently been singing the praises of MDL, and met John at the recent Chatham Bar B Que. Customer relations are certainly improving.
