So, following on from previous posts regarding the problems I was having with water in the oil of the sail drive, this is the latest. On 2nd lift out engineer did not find any damage to oil seals and no evidence that the leg had been fouled. He did notice that the outer seal had gouged a groove on the shaft which he had never seen in a 2 year old installation. Anyhow the seals were replaced and boat relaunched. At this stage I was over £530 out of pocket in yard costs. 2 days later the oil was contaminated again much to the dismay of the engineer. I sent him a strongly worded email to pass on and yesterday got a call from him telling me a new sail drive is on it's way from Italy and lift out costs will be covered. There are also positive sounds that a refund is coming for previous costs. Am very pleased with Beta Marine at the moment!

I'm also in the process of having a seaprop60 entirely replaced and for pretty much the same reason. When we removed the shaft the small bearing actually fell apart. I'm told that there is a new design to address these problems so there must have been a design flaw.
