I apologise in advance if this post rambles a bit.
I have a Beta marine 50hp engine and have a problem with the control panel. I spoke to Beta and they said that the panel was originally fitted with lamps, they them changed to LEDs fitted to a PCB but now have reverted back to lamps. Mine has LEDs and seems to have a problem. In my cynical way I assume the PCB may have been a problem. I have now bought a replacement from them and would like to add some extra protection to it. Is there a product I can cover it with to keep the damp/salty air away from it?

My Beta panel is mounted in the original recess, I had to enlarge the hole to suit and I fitted extra holding down screws around the edge together with a rubber gasket to prevent water getting into the back of the panel. (I used the soft 'P' section used as a draught excluder). As it was recessed I also fitted a top hinged Perspex cover to make it (approimately) flush with the coaming side. As I had made the perspex a close fit with barely a millimetre gap all round, I had to cut a corner off as a fingerhole to lift it and use the keystart. Works well and as far as I know no water gets past the perspex and seal.

Many thanks, my panel is open at the back, into a locker. Talking to a friend of mine today, he suggested fitting the panel and testing it. Then cover the whole thing in silicon sealer. I think I would need to find a product that does not have the acid that is in the bathroom sealers.

Does the PCB have relays on it? If they are just 5 volt LEDS, you can replace with 12 volt ones, which work in the same way as "light bulbs", but will fit the existing panel.

I fitted the panel today and it is working fine. I will now sort out some vanish. Many thanks foe all the replies.
