i am in the process of having a rotating mast build.
this involves changing the mast foot and refitting the three stays to one common point.

despite the best efforts of the yard i can not see how the mast is going to be in exactly the same for/aft postion after the above.
a few mm on either point will throw the height of the boom out :-((

so, what would you do ?
fit a turnbuckle on the forestay, this might have to go at the top as there is no space by the sailspar furling gear.
or, ask for a slightly longer SS intermediate fitting between the mast and the top of the forestay, i can then have this changed afterwards for one a bit longer or shorter ?

or you know better ???

A turnbuckle at the top is a good way of dealing with the problem but it adds weight. Why not fit one just until you get it right and then fit a final fitting made to the length of the rigging screw that you arrived at?

Is there no bottlescrew in the reefing gear?
You can add toggles or rigging links. You may need an additonal link to allow the mast to turn.
You should be able to get the lengths right if you have proper measurements of the old mast, or know what rake you need.

I've puzzled and puzzled but I dont understand your question / problem. If the forestay is the same length and the mast foot is at the same location, why does the boom height have to change?

As I see it you will be wanting perhaps to shorten the forestay to raise the boom. ie to pull the mast forward. It is not likely to be a problem if the mast step is aft a little so tipping the mast forward and raising the boom.
I would suggest that you get the mast raised in place then check on the height of the boom.
If the boom is a little low you may be able to allow the tack of the main sail to rise at the gooseneck so allowing the sail to be hoisted higher so lifting the boom. (assuming you have enough hoist in the luff.)
good luck olewill
