Best Value Eatery/Pub, Hamble?

A few options :

If you like Indian, then Cinnamon Bay at the top of the village is superb.

Italian, then La Dolce Vita on the square is superb.

The Kangaroo steaks at Boomerang''s aren't bad either.

For pub food, the Bugle is OK but slightly pretentious (as befits its clientele :) )or Banana Wharf down at Port Hamble is pretty good value.

as said really,

Dolce Vita is great, Bugle is average.

pub food in the king and queen is very good

Ketch is good but little out of the village if your not in a car

Banana wharf is good with lovely view of boats too!!

its not too busy down here now as all the DFT's are tucked up in the city!!

Anyone tried the River Rat yet (used to be Marco's).

Did look at a menu the other day, put off by price and not having a fecking clue what the dish actually was...

Would second that about the K&Q food, the Sunday roasts are something else :)

Another vote for Dolce vita. Despite the temptation to rip off all the rich yachts, the owner has kept the prices reasonable and the food quality high.

I asked him about this once and he said that he would rather have a full restaurant year- round than make loads of money on sailing days and be deathly quiet on midweek out of season. Hence, the locals use the place regularly.

We eat there several times a month and I am yet to have a bad meal.

That's very commendable, I thought the Hamble was all about ripping off yachties, rich or not.
