Need a longer 32A cable. Have the fittings/sockets but can't find any suitable cable for sale in Spain. Since I'm driving out may as well but here.

What is the spec of cable and where best to buy it? No doubt 'non marine' places won't carry the boat premium

Online they only list 16A - might try in store

Both Screwfix and Toolstation have blue, and yellow, 2.5mm² arctic cable on their websites If that is adequate, but not 4.0mm²

£68 and £56 per 50m respectively

In the local DIY shop they might have 3x4mm2, if not, you could buy 5x 2,5mm2, and take two wires together for the 2 fases, and one single 2,5mm2 for the ground.

All 4mm2, 3 core cables are not alike, some are much more flexible and much easier to handle/store on a boat, so need to consider this when comparing prices.

Suspect the "marine grade " meets certain standards .

Thinking insulation quality and resistance to diesel spillage and UV degregation .
Electricity -water -safety -dodgy shore power, do you trust the RCD,s in visiting marinas ? ---hmmm interesting combo

It's not somthing I would add to my list of E -Bay mistakes -we have all got a list !

With 50 M of propper stuff I linked -you could make up a few whole leads ( after using your common own home port connectors ) of other local plugs -save adaptors .

Essential supplies is where I get mine from, available in 3 core up to 25mm2, their HO7 is what most shows and gigs use for trailing cables and it is so flexible and easy to coil, also very abrasion resistant which makes it really good for shore power, it is far superior to So called Arctic which is PVC sheathed and has poor flexibility and UV resistance in comparison. 4mm2 is acceptable for 32a but if you are constantly at the upper end then 6mm is a better option.

That 12v dc rated wire would glow nicely and leave a mess after 220 V AC was sent down it
Hope the RCD works in the shore -and or boat .

Not sure the "mess" includes the persons hand and arm plugging it in .

Best not to find out
Why - do 32 amps at 240 volt produce more heat than 32 amps at 12 volt?

Watts = Volts x Amps

So at 240v the wattage will be 20 times that of the 12v supply.

EDIT - must type quicker.....
