Best offshore foulies

We both ended up with Gill after trying on all the various makes at the boat show a few years back. They both fitted us better than the competition. So far have been pleased with them.

I bought Musto HPX about 8 years ago, was not happy when both top and bottom started to delaminate 2 years later. Was very happy when Musto replaced both FOC. As WL Gore underwrite product replacement its worth sending back anything based on Goretex.

The Musto salopettes have had fairly heavy use since on deliveries et al, but not racing (foredeck) which seems a step too far - use cheap XMs (Fairview end of season) for that :)

Best oilies

Some of the best kit I've had is from Helly Hansen - and I've tried them all over 40 years of sailing and testing. Although I do prefer Musto HPX salopettes in deep winter or ocean crossing. Close second Guy Cotten as mentioned above.

After buying 3 sets of cheap gear in 3 years I bought a set of Henri Lloyd Ocean Racer foulies some 22 years ago.

They are still keeping the water out.

Most expesive clobber I ever bought though.

Ditto in 1995. About £550 IIRC. Still going strong, and haven't let a drop of water in since new.

Might be Offshore, rather than Ocean Racer, but bloody good all the same.
