Best non-UK yacht clubs?

[Resolution]

The forum has some pretty well travelled participants and between us we must have sailed in most corners of the world. Which yacht clubs have been best for the visiting yachtsman (or woman!) and why?
Thinking of things like berths, boatyard facilities, showers, bars, and perhaps most of all, warm welcome or "FO unless you wear a blazer".

UK excluded to avoid local vendettas....unless any of our Oz friends want to chuck in a reverse comment.

Monte real yate club in Bayona .Fantastics accomodations in an old castle,club restaurant very good and cheap,marineros very helpful.I recommend it

Best Yacht Club

Royal Bombay Yacht Club in a city now called Mumbai
Virtually no facilities but they do sail a little again now. Most sociable bar in northern hemisphere. Wonderful old building next to the Gateway to India and Taj Hotel. Library is worth an hour or two for the old books

The New York Yacht club in Rhode island (the Summer residence) is pretty special place - the food is really GOOD at better prices than many UK clubs.

The Blue hulled yachts on the right (Freesia) was the yacht I looked after.

Another vote for the Royal Brighton who looked after me very well a good few years back, and my son speaks very highly of the Ryoal Nova Scotia after spending 6 months working in Halifax.

Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.

Always managed to get an afternoon's sailing on Saturdays when the Dragon Class were racing in the harbour.

Has changing rooms and showers at the back, all the way down the main corridor, at least it did 10 years ago. Agree with the rest of the comments.

Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron for location, bar, facilities. Not so sure about the welcome...

I'm not as well-travelled as most of you, but if anyone is heading for the Baltic I can recommend the yacht club at Neustadt in Germany. This was rebuilt by the members after a fire about 20 yrs ago. They have also built a fine marina and good food is served. The last time we went there a member said "I think you were here two years ago", and we hadn't even spoken to him.

Had a very nice afternoon tea there, followed by dinner, and lots of locally produced beer, then some locally produced cider.

Loved the following--taken from The Royal Bombay Yacht Club web-site.
"Members are requested to have their bath only in the bath tubs."

Presumably if you have too much to drink in their bar you become
"A Reciprocating Club Member"

Another vote for the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.

I believe my parents were members there but we spent most of our time at the Aberdeen Marina Club. I loved that place! A real bargain aswell!
