Best idiot proof passage past Luing

Is that the one you avoid by hugging the coast of Torsa? I've always had a policy of going round there as close in as I dare.

Nah, it’s the one opposite the perch that everone hits as it’s roughly in the middle of the channel. The one off Torsa is easy to miss (so far) by giving a wide berth to the north of hugging the Shore , which is the best option (IMHO)

Its on line between the Perch on the Cleit Rock and Breac Pt.

Ah, right, I think I know the one. I have always worked on the "just miss the Cleit Rock and you'll miss everything else" principal.

And all these last stream of postings about the Cuan Sound just help demonstrate why anybody like the OP going from Crinan to Mull would just take the direct and navigationally simple route up the Sound of Luing rather than a longer detour to go rock hopping in Cuan (although Cuan itself is not hugely difficult in Scottish waters terms) :encouragement:

Although Luing is definitely a bit simpler, (I agree that) Cuan isn't that bad, and can definitely be worthwhile in some tides.
