When I was at Selby the owner there strongly recommended one he sells HH66 - but what do others think is the best choice for headlining gluing before I spray a load of carpet adhesive instead? :)

Ordinary carpet adhesive may not withstand the temperature range that headling adhesive will be subjected to

Also I think you will find that spray adhesive wont provide a permanent bond if used on its own. Common practice is I believe to use it on foam backed lining and and a brush-on contact adhesive on the GRP.... certainly what Hawke House Marine recommended when I relined my boat

Use a system recommended by the people who know about this work ......... You dont want to be doing it all over in a couple of years time if the adhesive softens in the heat of summer and the lining falls off.

Hawke house now supply Trade Grip SAF111 and Trade Tak.

Iv'e never had any problem with genuine EvoStick IMPACT contact adhesive..... Stuck lots of foam at work and never known it let go..... more problems with the opposite...... having to cut it apart.....

Last headlining job I used this stuff as Evo too expensive for large area...... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HEAVY-DUT...601?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item33549fbff1

Worked fine..... sold the boat two years later though.

Use this, don't compromise.

I have used this extensively, fixing closed cell foam to fibreglass for insulation. Works, easy to use and some bits that I have done are still there after three years and show no sign of moving. I've tried the cheap alternatives and there is no comparison. Cromwell are the best price if you buy enough to avoid shipping charges. If you find cheaper let me know. Don't bother with EBay, crazy prices.

Edit: to satisfy the Mafiosa I have no connection etc, etc!

The adhesive supplied by Hawke House is a mix specifically made for them and the manufacturers won't supply direct - I've tried. Many adhesives are effected by the plasticisers in the vinyl over a period of time and the carpet spray adhesives come unstuck after a year or two on grp, particularly in warm climates. There are various water based ones available for sticking to plywood but after much phoning around, I haven't found another manufacturer who will guarantee their product for use on grp. Hawke House are also wary of using their self adhesive foam in warm climates.

I'm currently fitting foam backed vinyl headlining in the cabin and lining the hull with closed cell foam with carpet on top. Glue is SAF111 from Hawke House onto GRP and Trade Tack spray on the foam. Easy to work with, and seems pretty well stuck now. Time will tell of course.

I hope this is not hi-jacking the thread, but I plan to use SAF111 from Hawkehouse for Tia's headlining and am currently stripping off the old glue. I'd like to start the fitting soon, but given the cold weather are there's any minimum temperature limits, will I have to wait for warmer weather?

Suggest you ask Hawke House. Problem with low hull temperature is condensation on the inner surface just from breathing.

I replaced my headlining last year and used SAF 111 (brush onto grp) and Trade Tack (Spray onto foam backed vinyl) from Hawke House.
I don't know whether it is specially formulated for them, I suspect there are glue wholesalers who by in bulk and badge it for various companies but was not prepared to take the risk for a relatively modest saving. I also wanted to be able to call on them for advice if needed.

Depends what you are gluing. If its foam backed vinyl or plain fabric backed vinyl to ply or wood - then waterproof PVA
If its foam backed vinyl or plain fabric backed vinyl then Hawke house system works for me (still there after 6 years)
Good luck
John
