Best fish restaurant in Cherbourg?

I haven't been for a few years, but our favourite was a small restaurant in one of the narrow streets behind the Café de Paris, as I remember it was called Au Tire Bouchon (the corkscrew)

Answers by this evening, please.

Already done Cafe de Paris, not what it used to be.

Ta.

If you really want an experience outside of Cherbourg (about 10/15km) try this :

The views over the Channel Islands are spectacular, especially at sunset.

PS I had thought of the Auberge as a possible alternative for the Cherbourg trip dinner hiring a bus to get there. They can take 50/60 people.

In or near Cherbourg, Gault & Millau recommend :

Le Vauban : 22 quai Qualigny (2 toques) or La Gourmandine 24 rue Surcouf 50120 Equeurdreville Hainneville (1 toque).

Thanks guys, actually we got in late and left early, so it was an omelette in the cockpit. Still, the Vauban has been bookmarked for next time.

Strudders - saw you on pontoon N but it was a bit late to come knocking.

We can now recommend La Cale in the Place de La Republic - Vauban seemed a bit expensive, and La Cale was excellent.

Catch you back on A pontoon

A final addendum. Tonight we tried Au Tire-Bouchon in Rue de Notre Dame, and they specialise in seafood, bringing a huge blackboard to your table. Excellent food, service and value for money. X-Channel at stupid o'clock next
