Any good quality mineral multigrade will be fine, whatever you do don't start using synthetic in view of the engines age it will have various deposits sitting in the lubrication system and synthetic has a lot more detergent in it and it will do what its supposed to do and clean them out, this is fine if used from new on an engine but not recommended on older motors as this could give you problems with loss of oil pressure in parts of the engine if the dislodged deposits block an oil gallery and it will most likely develop oil leaks as its thinner and more searching than mineral.
I wanted to get an alternative oil to what is recommended in the 1994 operation and maintenance manual, I thought that some of the newer oils would be better for my engine.
Thanks for the advice.
