Best electrical contact cleaning fluid?

The instructions for my Torqeedo electric outboard recommend applying contact cleaning fluid to the connectors every couple of months.

Seems to be many available from online suppliers.

Any particular recommendations for the best buy, please?

I've used Electrolube and Servisol products which have been around a long time. I wouldn't say there is a "best", they all do the same job. Screwfix, Toolstation have similar things listed.

Check if you need cleaner or cleaner/lubricant.

If they want cleaning, I would use a solvent like IPA or perhaps a foaming aerosol cleaner and a rinse.
If you're more looking for ongoing protection, somethng which leaves a lubricant behind like Contralube or a silicone oil is often a good choice.
Generally a squirt of GT85 and wipe with kitchen roll is a good start.

In a marine environment I'd be tempted to use lube. Some of the aerosols are only light oil for relays etc., some have thin grease. If it's the main power connector you could try a bit of suitable grease - then cleaning would be less of a problem. Simple thing, so much choice!

I have used Contalube 770 with great success but I'm not sure its still available.

Deoxit is said, within the radio fraternity, to be able to raise the dead. Fairly expensive but as good as it gets. If it’s just for routine maintenance, I’d use WD40 Specialist Contact Cleaner, available from Screwfix and many other outlets.

Note: Specialist Contact cleaner. Not to be confused with standard WD40 which, for this application, should be avoided at all costs .
