Best April in West Of Scotland

So its the best April weather in West Coast of Scotland for sailing since the ICE AGE , and were all stuck at home , how is that for luck , wall to wall sunshine good winds and no sailing, how is everyone else coping
Me I m playing Roblocks on the PC with the Daughter, built a nice house got a purple motor bike and Im in her group , COOL DAD award :cool:
 
On Saturday the roof I am reslating got so hot that I was getting burns on my hands and knees ( shorts this week) and I had to stop work for a few hours until it cooled, The time needed is mainly because of trimming around and flashing three Velux roof windows, I can see the boat sitting in the boatyard as I work but am resigned to admiring it across the canal.
Exceptional weather okay, nearly 14 degrees, wall to wall sunshine and a solid 5 South Easterly all day to go with it, but I can remember a similar April about 7 or 8 years back when we got all the way to Loch Inver before the bluebells.
The sainted Carol K has promised a continuation next week and has blessed me by promising only hazy sunshine, the roofing would be causing me a lot of grief if I had to do it in a normal sailing season, but this year it is great to have such a diversion so I can pace myself.
 
We've had this sort of run before... another week would certainly make it one of the best ones... not much wind up here though, so I am telling myself that I'm not missing out all that much. Anyway I get to buzz about on a fast motorboat all day at work, not quite the same but it's better than nothing!

This type of weather is not uncommon at this time of year. I used to sail with a guy who never launched his boat until the east wind had blown the blossom from the Cherry trees. Wise words.
 
Every April is good. The last scorcher April that I remember was 1990, 26 Celsius all week. It is as sure as the sun rising tomorrow that late April is always great weather. As for the rest of the year ...........
 
A few years ago I remember having 3 days of fantastic sailing in February. I had to wait until July for as good a weather window.
 
Great spell of weather. Been sitting out for most of the afternoon looking out over the water to the Holy Loch. One inflatable canoe and that's it.
 
The Gareloch looks naked without any moored boats.

I’m gutted as my mooring was serviced just as the lockdown kicked in. New riser chain and mooring strop, and no boat for the foreseeable future.
 
It's been pretty damned good hear on the "other side" the east wind has pegged the temperature down a bit.

Last week I had a job to do on the shore of the Cromarty Firth. Spent a day looking out at the flat blue sea and gentle E breeze. Taunting.

A good spell of weather with a lot of E in the wind is common for the start of the season.

Boat still on the hard, not yet even antifouled, but otherwise ready to go when we are allowed. But I do wonder if we are going to be allowed before it is too late. We will have to wait and see.

It was warmer last year New record for Easter Monday temperature
