Sheolin lives on a swinging mooring. I applied a single coat of International Micron 350 before she was launched in March. She came out with just some brown slime on her hull, no weed and not a single barnacle or tube worm. I'd polished the prop before launching, and while the blades were clean there were barnacles around the hub and the rope cutter.
It's the brown, nicotine like, staining around the splash zone that bugs me.

This is what you want Oxalic Acid Wood Bleach | AG Woodcare. A kilo will last you for years.

Dissolve it in warm water, add a bit of wallpaper paste to thicken it a bit and brush it on all round. By the time you get back to the beginning, the stain should be gone, so wash it off, using a slow flow from a hose to minimise splashing. If not, leave it a bit longer.

Wear overalls, decent rubber gloves and eye protection, because it is an acid. It's also toxic if anyone were dumb enough to eat it.

Alternatively, you could buy a tub of Y10 for more money. That might last you a year or two.

Chichester Marina. Micron 350 applied in April. Regular use in the Solent over summer. Now all hull, rudder, keel, covered in brown slime (endoscope). Used Velox on saildrive/prop and that is clear of any fouling. Beginning to feel applying hull antifoul is a waste of time and money. Maybe a pressure wash in April and August every year would give similar result to save time and cost of antfoul.

That would be me. 😳

Coffee jar full of white stuff next to the milk... My mug of tea tasted very wrong indeed.

Phoned my Dad who was a chemist and he thought it was pretty harmless in any quantity you could accidentally consume, IIRC he said its basically stinging nettle.
