The Cruisers Uno that we applied at the start of last season has proved woefully inadequate for the South Coast, and we need to apply a better antifoul for this season.

So what is the best antifoul for a sports cruiser on the South Coast?

Neil

Would need the input of folks who know the UK better than me but my opening shot would be black Micron 66

EU45 works best for me so far (south coast UK) and its not badly priced. Two coats does the job. Tried blakes and international - not impressed, but this stuff proves better. After 11 months in the the bottom was fairly clean apart from some slime and she only had the usual beard at the waterline.

Jotun is worth looking at, buy it from a (commercial) fisher/trawlermans store and it'll cost a fraction of what it would from a chandlers.

I'd best not post here what I sell else it will be considered commercial. However my boat will be lifted in the next week or two. pm me and I'll let you know when. Spectators welcome, and you can post the photos here.
And you will only have to paint it once...........

Uno is for slower boats, and not that posh pallace you have!!! get some better more EXPENSIVE stuff on it.

I am not on uk south coast tho when i was i can't say that i knew the very best gear.

The coppercoat wot i have put on the boat is rather brill. It's a hard epoxy, so the application is a bit of a hassle but once done it should last ages. You need to sand back the hull to white rough gelcoat, apply the gear, then next morning or the day after lift/shift to do the gaps and then wait another three days till it all goes hard and THEN sand the whole thing down to bright copper, and another shift lift for the bits, at which point you do have an bomb-hard epoxy afoul that will resist crusties. Most peeps don't do all the above.

.....oh, there goes my idea of using Cruiser Uno this year.... I used Interspeed Ultra in Princess Grey last year and I must say that was OK.... and I liked the colour!

...I am considering going the eroding route this year due to jfm's extraordinary Micron 66 results, but have not heard of EU45.... I know SWMBO has E45.... I wonder if that's similar:rolleyes:

...anyway, off to LIBS in 10 mins so will have a look around there!

Interesting, I've been using crusier uno and each time it's been lifted its just had a coat of slime. Seemed fine. Maybe the Bristol Channel suits it better. Its props I get a problem with.

Just spoke to Mr Eu 45. Thats 45pct copper, apparently, the most you can legally use, in EU I m guessing!
Its a very slow eroding a/f, good for up to 40knt boats, he says. 2 coats needed.
