Best Anchor for a Centaur?

Well I can comtribute a couple of points.

The Centaur pulpit comes as standard with hanging brackets for a Danforth; not my choice of anchor but it is easy stowage out of the way I suppose.

My chum has a Rocna on his; it's a serious pain to get through the pulpit legs and I can say from personal experience doesn't lend itself to deploying or recovering in a hurry, also requires some muscle to hold the thing up and do a metal puzzle with it...

good plan...

I have to say I tend towards a heavy cheap chinese and lots of chain - and a second anchor as an Angel when it gets frightening

D

I sat out a disturbingly large blow with only my cheap Chinese CQR copy preventing me being a permanent tourist attraction crushed under Southend pier. Consequently, I'm sufficiently emotionally attached to it that when I sold that boat, the anchor was just about the only thing that came with me. I'm aware that it's likely to be disapproved of by the panel; nevertheless, it's my lump of metal of choice...

Sounds like it would be best to put a well in the bows of the boat, then any sort should be great.............

Would solve the problem of the soggy foredeck!

Anyway the anchor required is one that holds it firmly attached to the land - dangerous to take out a boat where the engine is rubbish, the keels likely to fall off, the rigging needs replacing, the foredeck delaminates etc etc. In fact one wonders how many of the 2500 made ever went anywhere!

What's the point of an anchor, whether it holds on firmly to the land or not, when the foredeck on which the mooring cleat is mounted is disintegrating.

What do you call a Centaur with no foredeck, no engine and no keels ........ ?

"No we haven't got one of those, there's no demand for them!"

My favourite was on the wall of an aircraft parts store at Dunsfold

" It's no use you pointing at it, the computer says we haven't got any ! "

Centaur - as soon as the dodgy foredeck was mentioned it struck me that building in an anchor well would solve a couple of snags in one go, can't be difficult; I bet there's some sort of structure one could glass in, how about a suitably reinforced shower tray ?
