I am going to the south of france for a couple of seasons and would appreciate any input in selecting a marina berth for rent in the area surrounding carcasonne.I have no idea of prices or location but near a budget airline destination would be good

Good luck to you! We arrived in Toulon in Aug 03, and immediately found it quite impossible to find berths - difficult enough for overnight (if not in by just after noon, probably full) and quite impossible for overwintering. Eventually found somewhere to leave ashore over winter, and ended up, somewhat in desperation, buying a lease on a berth. We are hoping that the gross excess of demand over supply will mean we at least get our money back if we sell again in 2 or 3 yrs.
Further West may well be a much easier proposition, but it still won't be easy.

Good luck!

I get down to Carcassone/Narbonne area several times a year and usually fly into Spain as car hire is much cheaper there. Barcelona is OK but Gerona is great as it's only a hop up to the border. Great access for Colioure, Port Vendres, Perpignan etc.
