I am trying to find some berth hinges; the sort which are similar to the old British Rail type sleeper pullman berth hinges, whereby the berth can fold up against the hull when not needed, but can be pulled down when required. I imagine that they would have to be fairly hefty, maybe even incorporating a gas strut. has anybody ever seen anything like this? or am I reduced to investigating my closest sleeper train?

not sure if you are talking about some fancy articulated hinge that slides & folds or just something fit to take the weight. if the latter, consider stainless piano hinges which give a lot of strength because they are continuous. they are sold by length off a roll.

Can you describe them a bit more? I've got two pairs of quite nice hinges you're welcome to, but need to know what you're after.
