Beneteau - Windscreen frames - powdery corrosion prevention?

The aluminium windscreen frames on my Antares 760 are showing a bit of corrosion at the bases where moisture collects (looks like white cake icing in winter and white powder in summer).
Is there anything sensible to spray on or just keep wiping it away?

I presume at some point the frames need to come out for replacement (which will no doubt be quite expensive:rolleyes:).

Any hints much appreciated.

Thanks - did that stop the powder/paste forming and what paint did you use?

Keen to stop the march of the elements wherever I can! ?

Do the above, but then get them wrapped. Looks smart and should last for ages once you've cleared the initial corrosion.

Thanks - as in vinyl wrap?
Ah it's all on the inside...
The outside looks alright actually, I just get powder and paste on the inside down near the bottom where it is bonded or attached to the wheelhouse dash moulding.

Is it on the fame or the sliding section?

My apologies, for some silly reason I thought you were talking about side windows. I must have miss read the "windscreen" give away word ?☹️.
So, I'd say that condensation on the inside is an issue or you have a slight leak on the windscreen rubber on the outside which is allowing a small amount of sea water to come into contact with the aluminium frame base. Clean it up and re seal the outside of the window. Then have a dehumidifier running when you're not on the boat. This will stop the moisture build up.

Our patch was on the outside and easy to get to whole area.
Yours may be trickier as the effected area may continue between the frame and the fiberglass and you cant get to that.
For paint I just used a car chip touch up tube as it was only 20mm across so not worth buying a full tin of anything special.

Thanks both, much appreciated.
Yes will clean it up inside and reseal the outside all round the edges (I did do that a while back with a bead of CT1 but that's probably now perished hence the seepage).

Pleinmont, mine frames also have corrosion. Are yours as bad as mine?

Hi, my frames inside look about the same as yours on the inside from when the seals were not keeping out moisture. Bit crusty from the bottom up same as in the pic.

I applied clear silicone beading (CT1 laid in between masking tape) on the outside all around the windscreen where glass meets aluminium and flattened it down before removing the tape. Looks tidy and barely see it.
Only needs a thin bead about 2mm onto the glass and 1mm onto the flat top of the alu frame. Enough to seal any gaps between glass and alu.

Then cleaned out the old white powder inside and wiped it all down.
Now the windscreen is sealed I've not seen any more corrosion, water or white powder forming.
If you can stop the moisture getting in it is fine.

Just needs redoing every 3-4 years as it perishes in the sun (there's probably a better product out there).
