Beneteau Oceanis 40 cc

Sorry if I offended you Rob - wasn't my intention. I have been on the receiving end of statements like that myself though as if it matters. That's why we have a search function and probably the latest attendees felt they had something worthwhile to say. Oh and yes I probably would have said it if we were in a bar. I don't hide behind this persona, it truly wasn't meant as offensive. You're right though - internet does bring them out........

No problem I was a touch sensitive on reflection. Bad day yesterday - plus I was looking outside at sunshine and a breeze. :) Thanks for yr reply.

I am considering purchasing one of these. The specification looks perfect for me, but I have no experience of them. Does anyone have any opinions on Build Quality, Sailing Performance, or convenience of the layout etc?

Any thoughts are welcome, especially from owners.

Thanks, Simon

No experience, but in Rethymion on board a 40CC, when the owner told a little tale.

He'd bought the boat at the Brussels show, telling the salesman that he wanted to sail round the world and having been assured that the 40CC was the perfect boat for the project.

When the hull, after 3 years in the Med faded badly, he phoned the factory and asked them to take action - when he told them he was in the Med on the start of his world-girdling trip, the man at the other end had proverbial kittens and told him in no uncertain terms that the boat was totally unsuitable for his anticipated use.
They did respray the hull, which now looks as though the boat was 20 years old, as the blue has once again faded.

My own impression, an ideal boat for lounging about it a marina, but not intended (by the manufacturers' own admission) for serious cruising.
