I consider seriously to buy a used First 47.7, 2002. Is there some one who has sailed this boat to give me some commends or advice?

Many thanks in advance.

I sail one. All in all a lovely boat to sail, in particular in the open sea downwind.

Upwind the profile means that it is fast and very wet in blowy conditions. Bit like sitting in a carwash! In a blow it does not sail upwind well throttled back a bit as there is too much windage.

I have no bowthruster and it is a bit of a big in a marina! Folding prop is fairly hopeless in reverse. Ken finds this no problem as he is used to boats that go backwards even worse. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

All in all these type of boats are race derived and so are most fun sailed at a bit of speed. Contrary to what one might expect I find them surprisingly good in a big blow in comparison to MAB's. The key is that the work factor is much higher so longer shorthanded sailing could become a bit tiring.

The main minus is that it is a bit too much work to take out for a daysail short handed, it is no good for shallow harbours and you will get wet! All in all if you like sailing you will love it.
