Hi i went to view a aquador 28c today after doing this im sad to say i was quite dissapointed as it was quit small and i found it move about in the water quite a lot as we moved around the boat a friend of mine has suggested looking at a beneteau antares 980 or a jeanneau merry fisher 925 can you guys tell me firstly what are the main differences between these two boats ie room , power and stability i need a boat with all weather capability no canopies. And one that is very stable in the water can you tell me would these boats be worth a look considering my needs ty
 
I took a 9.80 out for a seatrial and loved it, very roomy and stable and we were out in a good force 5. Similar speed to the Aquador (maybe a couple of knots down) but importantly able to keep up speed in poorer weather. Fit out of the French boats is not as plush, they are more utility, but still perfectly fine. Both the 9.80 and 925 are available with a flybridge so an advantage over the Aquador and are noticeable bigger volume

Had a good look at the Jeanneau 925, a little smaller, nearer the Beneteau S9 but with a small 2nd cabin. Smaller galley than the 9.8 and only one engine but a useful flybridge. Probably about 15-20K cheaper than the 9.80 you can get them from around £70K.

So Our ideal would be the 9.80, I did not feel the extra money was warranted- if only our recent boat sale went through I would probably own a 925 now (Doh!)

I know what you mean about the Aquador, they are a bit cramped but lovely boats/ We took a 25C for a seatrial a few years ago and was not as impressed as I expected and we ended up buying a sealine S23
 
Although Beneteau and Jeanneau are part of the same group, the MF925 and the ANtares980 are quite different boats.

The 980 has twin engines, and is a full planing hull while the 925 is more semi-d with a single, bigger diesel. Both are on shafts.

The 980 also has a second cabin with bunk beds while the 925 has just the forward bow cabin. The £20k difference in the price is justified as the 980 is a bigger boat with twin engines. The 925s are ok, but are more of a plodder compared to the 980.
 
Just to confirm, the 925 does have a second cabin, but is a single only rather than bunks with the foot of the berth ensing up under the hanging locker in the forecabin
 
Antares 9.80

Hi there, just to confirm what has previously been said, our 9.80 has been a great boat. We've been to Holland, Channel Islands, Mainland France and West Country in a variety of conditions and always felt safe. We generally just cruise at about 18.5 - 19 knots and it's happy to stay there in most conditions, even a force 5 on the nose - a bit bouncy but hardly noticable on the flybridge. Ours has the Nanni 200's which have been very reliable and economical. As said, built to a price, but everything works well, it's also very comfortable. Hope that helps.
