Beneteau Antares 30 questions

Yesterday I took delivery of my 2011 A30, its very well equiped and in very good condition and I am ready for summer :-)

I do have one questions for you all, when I start the engine and start to cruise the engine sound changes a lot from "normal" to approx. 1600 rpm to be more "noisy" and then after 1800 rpm all good again, is this normal?
The sound from the enginen changes quiet a lot depending on the rpm?

I don't know if you get what I mean its hard to explain in text. :-)
I asked about this and the seller said it was normal and the boat goes perfect.

Best Regards,
Martin

Great, exciting times for you :D

I noticed the same (sounds like louder valve train noise), but I usually cruise out of Portsmouth harbour around 1500rpm, then take revs up to 2000rpm to warm up before opening up to 3000rpm to get on plane.

I've not paid much attention, but next time I'm out I'll see if it does the same with engine already warm.

Hi Anders,

Please do, I just want to know if this is normal and then I can forget about it :-)

I have never owned a flybridge until now but thats really awesom.

Re: Antares 30 questions

Hi,

I need to remove my batteries to refill the ones "on the bottom" with battery water but I need some help.

I can easily remove the 1st step but I also would like to remove the second step for easier handling, does anyone understand what I mean and how to do this?

Best Regards,
Martin

Re: Antares 30 questions

I took the lower step out a couple of weekends ago to check battery water the extra Trojan batteries installed. There are three or four screws, approx locations circled below. Slightly tricky to reach when lower step is installed, but not impossible.

Hi Martin,

Had mine out today, noticed noise was as similar to what you and Anders describe, even when warm, but had not taken that much notice - sometimes I find closing the rear doors makes it quieter.
I have put sealing tape on the engine hatches and have put a thick rubber mat down (Mainly to stop water dripping into engine bay after kids swim) seems to have made a bit of difference in regards to noise.
Nice example of A30, different anchor setup on rear!
Enjoy the boat Regards Scott

Thank for your reply Scott, it feels good that you also have this sound, then its probably normal :-)

The anchor setup is very common here in Sweden since we often anchor and hopp off to an island. Almost everyone of the A30 I have seen here have this setup.

Thank again Anders for the picture, I managed to install my new two Varta 180Ah batteries above the original Tudor Heavy Duty after I filled them up with water.
Now I will have plenty of power on the water.

Re: Antares 30 questions

I had Victron Easyplus installed before delivery, it provides 70A charging to the two Trojans with oem charger looking after oem batteries. Main reason for Victron was the inverter, so I can watch F1 at anchor.

I think oem charger will be ok if you have plenty of time to charge batteries, ie if you use at weekend and then leave on shore power until next weekend.

Is the alternator charging the new batteries too?

Re: Antares 30 questions

Thats nice, Im thinking of installing another charger but how do you separate these? Do you have to separate them?
I still want the generator to charge all of them.

Re: Antares 30 questions

Hi,

I have a water switch (pictured) and if I flip the 3rd button from above towards the right it's fresh water and towards left it should be seawater that comes out of the faucet at the sink. Does anyone here have this function?

The problem I have is that the seawater pump doesn't work and now I'm wondering if anyone know where this pump is located?

Re: Antares 30 questions

Hello Friends,

I have a bad green navigation light, and i have tried to find a replacement bulbs for this without any luck. Do you know where i can find these bulbs and what are they called?

Re: Antares 30 questions

Normally, navigation lights are white, and it's the lens that is coloured red or green so, if yours is like this, then you should be able to purchase a replacement bulb from any chandlers.
