Hi, I have just purchased a Beneteau Antares 760, It was built in 2005, and has blue hull sides. I am wondering if any owners have been able to find the RAL number of the paint.
The paint is mainly OK but has a few fender scuffs and bumps that need to be touched in. Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

If it’s original gelcoat it won’t be paint. Superficial scuffs/scratches will polish out using Farecla cutting pastes, you will probably have to polish the whole hull though otherwise it will look odd.

further to Jamie Dundee advice, if marks are too deep for polishing out ,you may be tempted to infill using original colour gelcoat,. However gelcoat changes colour with time , especially if one side of boat is always in the sun, and Blue is apparently worse affected. So you will probably need the work done by someone with the experience to mix Beneteau gelcoat with other colours to match your present "shade" of blue. There is such a guy in my marina with scores of years experience in car body shop work. His services , or others like him, are always in high demand, and is not a cheap option. My 760 had scuffs and poor decals. I had the sides professionally polished and new decals made locally (much cheaper than Beneteau's replacement. Looked great after completion of work. I did buy a polisher and start myself, but soon realized that the results was not nearly as good as a professional will achieve, so I gave up and paid up. Money well spent, boat sold to first to view. My 760 was commisioned 2002. Good luck

Thanks for your feedback, however these boats have a basic white hull with blue flashes on either side. These panels are definitely painted. Therefore I need a touch up paint of that colour, see attached

I have to say that this was the reason I actively sought out a white boat. My last boat was blue and I swore then I’d never spend so many hours polishing ?

I thought the blue was gelcoat so maybe yours has already been painted once? Anyway, on mine, inside the cupboard under the stove, right at the back at the top, is a big label giving the Beneteau colour codes for each part of the hull/mouldings.

Hi Plum. Thanks so very much for that info! That's very helpful, I am going on board later today and I'll stick my head under the cooker!

Hi Again, I was on board today, and as you quite rightly say there is a sticker under the galley. Unfortunately the codes only refer to white, so I can only assume that the blue was added afterwards. Using a colour card, that blue is near enough to cobalt blue RAL1503. I will try to get a tester pot and see how it matches. Anyway many thanks for your help!

The RAL code is relevant if you want to repaint the whole area. If repairing you'd need to macth the now different faded colours surrounding the scratches, which in pratise is not possible.

Did you consider a vinyl foil wrap? A friend did it to his Windy Mistral and it completely changed the appearance of the boat.

I assume that you mean where is the water tank located......On my boat the tank is on the port side of the engine compartment.
Interesting, mine is port side rear of the lazarette. Must be a small tank to fit in the engine compartment, mine is (apparently) 100 litres.
