Came across a Jenneau Sunshine 38 (1984 Tony Castro) for handy money. question is why is a 1988 model of the same considerably moreor am i just overly suspicious.

also looking at benny 345. which is the better boat all things considered.

the headlining of the 345 needs redoing/varnish through out/new electronics andsome sails. Is this a tricky job i wonder[the head lining]

the jen 38 is very well found and looks good enough to sail away but in the end i want to have the better boat.

Having sailed both, I liked them.
The 345 is a very good boat.
Sails and electronics, not much change out of £6k

 

[Quandary]

Sunshine 38s were a competitive racer in their day and many were used for that purpose, the were seriously quick and some of them were hard raced but if it was it should show in the condition. The reason Jeanneau went to Tony Castro for the design was his reputation for quick boats. If she is in good order she should be a fun boat to sail but may need a crew to get the best out of her. I know very little about the Benny so can't comment on that but would regard it as more staid.
