Bembridge - info please

Considering going to Bembridge next week for the first time. Can you advise

1. Are there any visitors buoys to pick up that will allow me to stay afloat with 1m underneath me?
2. Can I stay afloat alongside a pontoon berth?
3. How much doea it cost to stay in Bembridge?
4. What's there to do around the area?

Basically two places: dried out on the beach to port just inside the entrance or the visitors pontoon part way up the harbour on the stbd side. At the pontoon you will sink into the mud.

The marina is now residents only.

Mooring may be possible by prior arrangement with HM or Brading Haven Yacht Club but I'm doubtful about remaining afloat. Study your chart and pilot book.

Not much to do in the immediate vicinity. It depends on what you want, but its an attractive place

Bilge keelers etc can stop on the beach on the left just inside the harbour but it is very steep. You won't have trouble about grounding at the visitors pontoon but it get very crowded at weekends. Brading Haven Club is very nice and welcomes visiting yachties. A fair number of good restaurants/pubs in St Helens and Bembridge. Sadly the marina is residents only. Nice walks, one way to Seaview, the other towards the lifeboat station and on to the Crab and Lobster. The Baywatch restaurant used to be very good but we last went a couple of years ago. There is a marked lack of discos, lager louts etc.

They dredged last year ... no drying out on the visitors pontoon - even for 6' draft ...

1.9m draft and stayed afloat on visitors pontoon, the pontoon has a depth indicator as does the first pile on the way in (for the bar) It was Springs too.,

The channel is narrow but well buoyed apart from 3 which was ashore at the time, keep close to the marks and enter on a rising tide (1.9M) HW-1 and you will be fine. Harbour Master is a good guy and will advise if too full prior to entry. We were there in F7/8 and limited to 4 abreast with good long lines to shore. In quiter weather I am sure they will raft out further.

By the way its known as Duver Marina as Bembridge is all residents, Duver has I think between 40 and 100 visitor berths

Just enter at dead slow though, manouvering normally requires exiting and entering boats to inch in the channel and too many cowboys ploughing in at 6K is not a sensible approach.
