Git :p
I'll make it one day but I think Sixpence is a little small to be venturing that far

Frank & Margeret Dye managed it in a Wayfarer ;)

Don't be too modest - sailorman & Mel did it in a size 14 Quayside deck shoe way back in the dark ages (before radio & electricity - the charts were still papyrus). :D:D

How about a sneaky tank , one with the white feeding say yr erberwotsit but only holding a few gallons and using a prominent deck filler and then have yr main engine tank disguised behind a bulkhead and a hidden filler ....:D
A bit extreme I suppose but I always like the idea of getting one over the establishment  :D

just watch out where the return pipe goes...

When we were boarded 2 years ago, they checked the fuel filter.

I was told by Dutch Customs, that the fine is €4.20/litre of capacity if you can show proper receipts. Not aware of the Belgian levy but will be higher than euro €1/l.

I had dutch customs on board in a marina, They didnt comment on the diesel etc, They were however interested in a knife i had on board wich was a folding knife and as they were arguing in dutch i asked what the issue was and one was saying it is too big and is illegal, the other was saying it wasnt, they had a ruler specially for measuring knives etc, and i told them it was rude cause i didnt understand what they were saying, I went downstairs as they were arguing over the size of the knife blade and the fact they were going to give me a fine or confiscate it, i then come back onto deck with the cutlery draw and empty it out in front of them and say well i have this bread knife here which is about 5 times longer than the knife you are arguing over and then theres all these normal knives about the same length.
They both just looked at me and gave me the knife back and didnt know what to say as i put all the cutlery back in the draw and we changed the subject!

What flag were you under

Belgian.

Problem is: 'they' know my boat.
As long as Guapa was UK registered I got away with having red in the tank.
They understood that I had nothing else available; and I got away with a 'don't do it again'. ;)
When I showed up in Ostend for the first time as a Belgian registered boat, they went to town.
Luckily, the fuel tank had been steamcleaned when I had the deck done and I had filled the tank in Antwerp with white only 2 days before.

Since then, I fill her up in Nieuwpoort once a year.
Never had any bugs, etc... Fuel's cleaner than clean due to the high volume they sell (3500 boats in Nieuwpoort alone serviced by just one fuel station).

I wish someone could explain what diesel is actually sold for yachts in harbours in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Is it the same stuff that's sold for cars? If so, why are we all so worried about using it (apart from the price)? Is everyone over there having loads of grief with blocked filters? If not, there isn't a problem, is there?
