so there I was,
doing odd jobs involving gelcoat, waiting for curing
into the marina came this lovely looking racer with two blokes looking like they had been thhru' it. The wind as it was and the tight berth caused a couple of re-trys which was'nt getting any better for them, as they were very close by I offered to take a line on the fingerberth, second attempt at positioning - only a small racing / folding prop - they were just about there. I took stern and bow lines - put a turn on - leaving matey to free to join me, cool - we eased her in under ropes. ''OK mate'' - '' YEAH SPOT ON THATS LOVELY'' I go to knees to cleat off proper -slight lean forward and............
Fatal error, I forgot I had h/h vhf in pouch chest pocket of jacket, skipper shouted NO, NO, - wasse mean its perfect thinks I, looking down to see the radio fade to grey under a light flurry of bubbles. £200 quid set, gone just like that.
So in saving mateys gelcoat and avoiding potential harm to other boats, the damage gods were unhappy, they wanted an offering of somesort today in that location at that time, kinda pre ordained and I messed with their schedule so they took my poor little radio.
I was wondering if any of you guys had any similar experiences?
