Hi Everyone,
Can I ask for some feedback, please?
We've just launched a new website for Beaucette Marina (www.beaucettemarina.com) and would like to know,
1) Is there anything else you'd like to see on the website?
2) Is the info given lacking in any way?
We would really appreciate your comments.
All the best for a great Christmas!
Thank you.
Piers
Speaking as an internet user, rather than website writer, it looks a really nice job. Congratulations. One of the best I've seen
Also I worked out why you moved to Beaucette Piers. On the "marina entrance" page http://www.beaucettemarina.com/navigation/marina-entrance/ it says "If able, please sound your craft’s horn 50m before the entrance". How fantastic - you get to sound your kahlenbergs just for the hell of it, every time you take a trip in the boat. In contrast, I spend my whole time hoping someone cuts me up, or gets their colregs messed up, or hoping for fog or a firework show, just so I can toot mine, but alas often it's in vain. I might have to move to Beaucette![]()
Yep, Great Bear, a Squadron 74. Sold now I think - dunno where it is nowWell there was a big Squaddy at Beaucette marina for a few years. I think the guy bought it out of his ill gotten gains (cartoon bears on greeting cards IIRC).
You don't need a passport since Guernsey is part of the British Isles, but it's always good to have it with you. To complete the customs forms, you'll need the details. Yes, you'll get charged a roaming charge when using your phone.

Thing is, it didn't have Piers'/Toby's beautiful Kahlenberg horns. What a wasted opportunity eh?![]()
Good website looks a very attractive spot to visit. A coupleof points; where are the prices? Also regarding dogs, although the site notes the position of Guernsey regarding uk dogs it does not specifically say they are welcome at the marina, subject to usual dog provisions?
Piers
Overall impression is good.
To help first time visitors, would it be helpful to have a photograph or two of the entrance from seaward ( as opposed to the photo you are currently using taken from inside )? Something like this;

Hi Andy, Were heading back in 2014, haven't got any dates yet but end of July is looking favorite. Let me know if you fancy going over together.
Andy.
P.S the site is pretty good Piers
That's an informative photo on the home page; but I'm having trouble believing it was taken from the west.
Hi Piers
Love it clean but packed with loads of easy to find useful info for a visting sailor, especially like the aerial view.
This from a Webmaster from your past [Chris A at Hiway]

Now that's an idea. OK. BTW, the restaurant has a bar with some draught 'somethings' (must check) and many bottled goodies (London Pride....), and I know you'd always be welcome there.

It was called Grey Bear (not Great Bear), and the owner now owns Beaucette Marina.
Thanks, need a boat first but I'm working on that. If you could just change it to "Restaurant and Bar" on the site that would do.
Anyway, what's your connection with the Marina Piers? Have you bought it?
How about some tips on when not to approach the entrance (weatherwise). One of my biggest brown trouser moments was getting through the entrance in around 30 knots of wind with around 1.5m of swell outside (+ on a biggish boat).
