Beaucette Marina website

Speaking as an internet user, rather than website writer, it looks a really nice job. Congratulations. One of the best I've seen

Also I worked out why you moved to Beaucette Piers. On the "marina entrance" page http://www.beaucettemarina.com/navigation/marina-entrance/ it says "If able, please sound your craft’s horn 50m before the entrance". How fantastic - you get to sound your kahlenbergs just for the hell of it, every time you take a trip in the boat. In contrast, I spend my whole time hoping someone cuts me up, or gets their colregs messed up, or hoping for fog or a firework show, just so I can toot mine, but alas often it's in vain. I might have to move to Beaucette :D

Hi Everyone,

Can I ask for some feedback, please?

We've just launched a new website for Beaucette Marina (www.beaucettemarina.com) and would like to know,

1) Is there anything else you'd like to see on the website?
2) Is the info given lacking in any way?

We would really appreciate your comments.

All the best for a great Christmas!

Thank you.

Piers

Perfect

Looking forward to visiting next summer.

Well there was a big Squaddy at Beaucette marina for a few years. I think the guy bought it out of his ill gotten gains (cartoon bears on greeting cards IIRC).

Yep, Great Bear, a Squadron 74. Sold now I think - dunno where it is now
Thing is, it didn't have Piers'/Toby's beautiful Kahlenberg horns. What a wasted opportunity eh? :D

You don't need a passport since Guernsey is part of the British Isles, but it's always good to have it with you. To complete the customs forms, you'll need the details. Yes, you'll get charged a roaming charge when using your phone.

That bit about the British Isles will confuse most people. The reason a passport is not required is that we are part of the Common Travel Area which comprises the islands of Ireland, Great Britain, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

Overall impression is good.

To help first time visitors, would it be helpful to have a photograph or two of the entrance from seaward ( as opposed to the photo you are currently using taken from inside )? Something like this;

Point taken. At the first opportunity, we'll get out and take some shots. Maybe even a video. Weather's been something of a challenge for a long time. It'll happen.

YES! In fact, the marina manager (Ricky) wants me to sound them as often as I can. Gets embarrassing....but huge fun. I have a modified D1 where the upper pitch has been altered to a much lower pitch....look out Condor!

Now that's an idea. OK. BTW, the restaurant has a bar with some draught 'somethings' (must check) and many bottled goodies (London Pride....), and I know you'd always be welcome there.

Thanks, need a boat first but I'm working on that. If you could just change it to "Restaurant and Bar" on the site that would do.

Anyway, what's your connection with the Marina Piers? Have you bought it?

How about some tips on when not to approach the entrance (weatherwise). One of my biggest brown trouser moments was getting through the entrance in around 30 knots of wind with around 1.5m of swell outside (+ on a biggish boat).

It was called Grey Bear (not Great Bear), and the owner now owns Beaucette Marina.

That makes sense....

Good point. Will do. Also creating a website for the restaurant - hey, I should be retired! But it's great fun....The chef has won many awards in the CIs and its good to have a great place as our 'local canteen'!

Now that's a challenge to anyone. If it's like that I certainly suggest keeping entry to +/- 1.5 hrs to give ample width and depth over the sill to cope with dipping the stern in the swell.
