Well It looks like I may have some agreement from SWMBLT that this year we can spend some of the summer hols on the boat. Now then, if I can break the umbillical cord and make it outside Chichester Harbour past East Head, we'll head for Bembridge - couple of days there, then perhaps it'll be off to the Folly Inn, after that are there any suggestions for beaches further west?

I suppose it depends whether or not you're restricted to the Solent. If yes, then Lepe Beach or Alum Bay spring to mind. If not, there's Mudeford (but can you get into Christchurch Harbour? and then stunning beaches all the way round Poole Bay to Old Harry - but nowhere that you can really anchor except Studland, where you may have to share the peace and tranquility with one or two other yotties and the occasional PWC. ;o)

Oh and if considering Studland don't forget the water skiers who provide hours of fun for themselves and others by weaving in and out of boats resting quietly at anchor and the entertaining antics of scantily clad females trying to pick up a mooring from the bow of an oversized stinker who, having finally hooked the beastly thing have no hands left to feed the string through the eye on the top.

Poole Harbour itself - some lovely sheltered spots especially to port when you enter rather than following the channel round to the Quay.
Swanage is excellent in anything other than South round to NE, as is Lullworth. Weymouth isn't that much further either.
Enjoy
