We watched this yesterday evening:

Coast, The Great Guide: 3. England's South East: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b07yk7f4 via @bbciplayer

They started off on the Thames in London, did a bit on the Montgomery, went to Dungeoness and eventually made their way to Dover - I didn't know that the Victorian's started to dig a channel tunnel in 1880 which was sealed up in 1883 as it was deemed a security risk!

It was an interesting programme so I thought I'd post here in case anyone else wanted to watch it.

Next Wednesday evening the next programme in the series is going to cover the coast of East Anglia.

Ditto, thanks for the head up. Remember that Napoleon started to commission a tunnel to invade us as well. I think can't dig up Lord Vincent's quote at Parliament at the moment but I think he said something like "I do not deny he (Napoleon) may come, but it will not be by sea".

Found it:

In 1801 in a letter to the Board of Admiralty, St Vincent made the now famous remark: "I do not say, my Lords, that the French will not come. I say only they will not come by sea.

Loved the original Coast series too.

That's good 'cos the bulk of this series is yet another re-hash of old Coast footage :)

It's still an enjoyable enough* watch, don't get me wrong, but by 'eck do they get some mileage out of the material!

* Although I have to say I started to find the constant references to what the programme is and the interspersed "coming up"s a bit wearing after a while.

Must admit I found the long drawn out into a pure waste of time and the repetition frustrating, but many programs are like that, I guess increases program length without costs.

I loved the original series, but will give this one a miss.

Seems to be dumbed down. Or perhaps aimed at the US market and the repetition allows insertion of advert breaks. I confess I went to sleep part way through.
Stuff on BBC2 used to be so good years ago. Horizon was excellent in those days, that seems to have gone the same way.

Generally a great series and worth watching again, but some of the editing is a bit odd.
For instance, the one about the Isles of Scilly. The Scillonion can make you seasick and there is a fish and chip shop on St Martins. Nothing else of interest apparently.
