Bavaria in administration?

Maybe. They just didn't seem at all interested in selling the monohulls, which looked rather sad and abandoned. Can't blame them, though, if they don't want to invest much time in a product lines whose days may well be numbered. There seemed to be lots of Beneteaus.

Who is the "they"? The factory has not been building anything since the end of July and everything that was built in the previous 4 months has been sold. But you may be right - who knows what the range may be when the new owners get going. In the last year or more power boats have outsold sailing boats in the UK, not just Bavaria.

Obviously more Beneteaus on display but still not the full range, and the smallest sailboat was the 35.

The Bavaria boats at SIBS were exhibited by the dealer, Clipper Marine, nothing to do with the manufacturer.

Yes, I know and said so in post#279. Hence the limitation to what boats they had in stock - and why there was no 34 on display.

Don't know for sure but suspect the Nautecs were from the factory, although displayed by the dealer (not Clipper).

Clipper also now have the Greenline agency in an attempt to reduce reliance on Bavaria.

I spoke with Richard H on Wednesday at the show and he was definately pumped up having met and discussed what will happen with the new owners. So watch this space.

Yes, the Greenline range was transferred from Inspiration Marine (Hanse)

I predict the new owners will rationalise the monohull range to 5 boats from 40ft to 60ft in 5ft increments, then in three to five years time put the firm up for sale where no buyer will be found......................

Who is the "they"?

The dealers, who I gather have always shown instead of Bavaria themselves.

I suspect that they have realised that, as someone regularly puts it, "the market has moved on", and the demand for well-made boating equivalents of the Ford Mondeo is evaporating.

Well having seen a Greenline job late last year, who knows it may be the way ahead, but it would be a brave person to put money on it; my very experienced chum and I simultaneously exclaimed ' WTF is THAT ?!
