Does anyone have any ideas how to empty the holding tank on a Bavaria 32?, there is no pump on the waste out and no outlet to attach the marina's pump out on to, other than a some sort of pot and a piece of string I'm stumped!

I am shortly to take delivery of a new Bav 36 with holding tank. As I understand it you empty the tank by opening the drain seacock when the boat is in forward motion (at sea, not in the marina!) - it empties by gravity. Do not forget to close the seacock again afterwards. It's a bit of a nuiscence that it cannot be pumped out, but that's the way it is, it seems!

open the valve, its gravity emptied, if it doesnt come out someones put something in it they shouldnt have !!
enjoy !!

Isn't that plain crazy, or am I missing something. Any modern boat with a holding tank should have pump out facility, as not everyone want's to dump everything at sea, even where it's legal

I must have a blocked seacock then, not sure how as we've only had the boat a month and have hardly used the bog in that time.

If that is the way you empty the thing, then surly it defeats the object of having a holding tank in the first place.

We fitted a holding tank ready for visiting France and Spain. Shouldn't have bothered as 99% of the locals don't. Try the Canal de Midi in summer, the smell is disgusting.

We use a Jabsco diaphragm pump and dishcharge when out at sea. I know people say it's a waste of time but it makes us feel better and at least we can moor in a marina with clear water and know that we won't polute it.

naa.
the idea is that you dont pollute the marina or harbour, nothing wrong in dumping bio degradeable in the oggin offshore, in fact thats where your pump out ends up. have you seen the size of mackerel near an outfall?
if you are blocked up try connecting (will need some ingenuity) a dinghy inflator to the breather pipe and GENTLY pressurising the system.
