Chap is telling me that Bavaria made a 38 that is actually 41 feet, is that correct?
Say's his is the 41 foot version
News to me ???????

Hmmm, thanks for that. Seller is saying his is dearer because it's the rarer 41 foot model whereas most are 38, sounds unlikely to me!
2002What year is it... ??
2002

Don't know ?Nice boat... Not as solid as the pre 2000's... Is it still German Lloyds certified?
Hadn't seen that, quite niceHave you seen fireballs 37 up for sale?

I have had a week on board a identical boat.... Solid performer, Very nicely screwed together, good useable comfortable interior.
Excellent value.
Yes, my Bennie was 1'3" longer that the model suggested! However I think the Bav seller is just trying to justify why his boat is 10k dearer than othersI think it depends on which year, and the 38CC is different from the ordinary aft cockpit 38. When I looked at them the 38 was a little over 40 feet LOA, but not 41 feet. Lots of boats are only nominally the size written on side, for example my Jeanneau 45.2 is 46 feet 5 inches overall, but the hull is about 45 feet. A look at the Bavaria website shows the current 38 to be a little more than 38 feet overall, but with its hull length quoted as just 10.45 metres which I make about 34 feet 6 inches! (Some mistake surely?)

Quite a few circa 1999-2004 or so were significantly LOA than indicated..
The 34 was just a tad under 36
Suspect that the advertiser is differentiating his 2002 boat from the previous 38 which went out of production in 2001. I have the original brochure for that model and it is 11.95m (38'8") and is a very different boat from the 2002 model, with twin aft cabins and two toilets. It was a development of an earlier 38 and a much bigger boat than the 37 of the same era (like mine and fireball's). The 2001 lineup had a 31, 34, 37, 38 and 42. In 2002 the lineup was 30, 34, 36, 38 and 42. The 34 and 42 were essentially the same, but new interiors and the others were new designs. As already noted the 36 was nearer 38' and the 38 was 40'! Who said Germans liked precision?
Confusing or what!
I was told that the hull of the 2002+ 36 used the mould of the pre 2002 37 - it certainly looks to be the same when we moored up alongside one. The difference was in the deck mould and the fit out below. I liked some of the changes, but not others - like the short lockers... Overall I'm glad we had the 37!The 2001 lineup had a 31, 34, 37, 38 and 42. In 2002 the lineup was 30, 34, 36, 38 and 42.
