I took delivery of one of the first Bavaria 36s back in April. I have been delighted with her. I have been out in all conditions (including when it was gusting F9) and she sails extremely well. This is confirmed by friends who have sailed her and have vastly more sailing experience than me. She is well finished and overall great value for money. Certainly worth a look if you are in the market for a new 36 footer.
They look quite a bit bigger that the 34. However, one example seemed rather slow. Yesterday coming back from Chichester in my new-to-me Bav 34, I had 2 reefs in and a couple of rolls in the genoa (family like to sail flat). If anything we pulled away from a new 36 which had all sails out. Perhaps this is an attribute of its in-mast main, or perhaps the rig was badly set up.
Who knows....... everyone who has been in my new Bav 36 (with furling main) has been surprised at how quick it is. An ex Bav 34 owner took my 36 out at the weekend and his first comment was "it's faster than my 34".
