Hi - Hope everyone is enjoying this sunny weekend.

I went to look at a Bavaria 300 sport this weekend near Lowestoft which turned out not to be as good as the broker told me, so I walked away from it.

My question is - Is there many 2001 onwards diesel Bavaria Bmb 300 sport boats for sale in the u.k
I am asking this as this is the boat I am looking for - There is a couple of the single engine variants in Europe but due to the exchange rate and transportation costs they are not worth it.

All opinions welcomed

May I add - Is there a Bavaria owner who maybe thinking of selling their boat ?

Just to add to your search, the later BMB/Bavaria 32 was basically the same boat. The interior layout is identical though the cockpit was rejigged slightly. I assume youve seen this 300 Sport? http://www.yachtworld.co.uk/boats/2001/Bavaria-Sport-300-2685499/United-Kingdom#.VzBUt-avO4k

Perhaps also consider a 330 from the same era.

This is probably the lowest price 32 Sport http://www.theyachtmarket.com/boats_for_sale/1221682/?searchid=11776515&page=1 I dare say there would be some wiggle room but if the 300 you saw was the one on for £38.5k maybe not in your budget

Thank you Jez - my Budget is between 36k and 38k - I did contact global Yacht brokers when they first listed the 300 last year asking for details on the boat but they didn't reply back.
The 1 in Lowestoft - the owner has added decals to the upper half of the hull/deck and on the portside you can see what looks like where strops have dug in and damaged the fibreglass whether this is a result of being lifted out the water without a frame or being tied down for road transport. I also noticed under the forward berth where the bow thruster tunnel is there was water yet the boat had been on the hard for about a year.

I asked the broker that if I made an offer on the boat could the decals be removed so the surveyor could had a good look and that if something un toward came up in the survey that would cause me to walk away I was more than happy to pay for new decals to be fitted.

The broker said he would ask the owner - 30 mins later I got a call from him and the owner wasn't prepared to have the decals removed and could assure me that it was just a light crazing to the gel coat- Hence my suspicions and gut feeling got stronger so I didn't take it any further.

I saw that boat - the decals are ugly and definitely not original Bavaria. It does make you wander if they are hiding something, though a surveyor would be able to look from the inside so I doubt really the decals are going to achieve anything other than put people off.

If you are after a 300 at that money you may have to bite the bullet and look abroad. For obvious reasons there are more in Germany/Holland with more in Italy and Spain. Transport really isn't that expensive for a boat if this size and as long as it's factored into the cost shouldn't be a show stopper.

I'd look at German boats first as the tend to be better looked after and transport to the channel coast will only be a couple of K

Edit: boats.co.uk have one http://www.boats.co.uk/boats-for-sale/bavaria-300-sport-929 over budget on the ask but close enough that maybe a deal could be had. If anyone can it's generally the Barke brothers

Believe or not Jez But that is the same boat what I saw on Friday with the horrible decals.
the broker didn't have much in the way of service history and the story goes that the current owner has had it 2 yrs and for 1 year out of the water - when I straightened out the out drives the stb drive was pointing straight ahead and the portside was off note that both drives had been covered in silt/mud at one stage yet they were very clean in the boats.co.uk advert.
when I saw the the advert I recognised the name that hadn't been changed which had me thinking does the broker actually own the boat?

Right my bad there- I will bear this in mind on my next viewing thanks Jez.

the search continues

It's a brokerage boat with boats.co.uk so they don't own it! It's always important to understand if a boat is brokerage or stock as it affects your consumer rights.

Hi Pete - The advert at boats.co.uk has expired they sold that boat around 2yrs ago which is now for sale near Lowestoft the very same boat I looked at last Friday. But I understand what your saying about stock or brokerage. my point about this boat was why would an owner refuse a quite a reasonable request to remove the decals that he had put on and then have a new set put back on???

Here is a pic when it was at Essex boat yard (boats.co.uk)

Here it is Now near Lowestoft with the same name and although you cant see it - it still had an "Essex boatyards" decals next to the Bavaria 300 sport decal

I totally agree Jez - if I did get the boat my Plan was to get it back to original state and have it looking more classy as it should be.
My thinking at the time though was that the decals could be to my advantage buying wise because they are shocking.
But even stevie wonder could see the strap marks that have dug into the fibreglass.

Hi Pete - single or twin I am not fussed which variant I get its just the interior layout is what attracts me like not having to drop down a table when wanting to use the fwd berth especially if there happens to be friends using the aft berth area.

As with the twin version when I saw the one on Friday I jumped down into the engine bay and there is plenty of room to service the engines etc so I imagine the single will have even more room.

And the build quality is evident on these boats compared to other manufacturers (without offending anyone)

Hi Jez - yeah very tempting as it does appear very clean will have to inform the swmbo - also depends if the boatyard would drop to my budget.

thanks again Jez

It certainly does Kev definitely tempted - it looks very stylish especially the small white stripe to break the dark blue up on the hull
