Why oh why do 12v battery manufacturers have terminals posts on different sides ?
The other day I swapped out two batteries in an awkward place....a job requiring a lot of pre planning to save my delicate back. When I got them in...to my horror I realized I forgot to check the terminal post position....and spent another half an hour bent in an unnatural position to reroute the wires.
Now I have another battery to change....but all the batteries with the exact dimensions I need have the posts in the opposite position....so now I have to go back to the boat to check if my cabling can stretch that far...before I can order them.
Maybe I should have put this in the gripe thread....

You have my sympathies. Rerouting battery cables always sound like it should be an easy job but is usually anything but - why is wisdom and experience so painful to gain?

I don’t mind sweat blood and tears to gain wisdom.....but why is it so difficult to retain ?....why do you have to bleed all over again ?

You are French. , when I visited you , we would walk to fetch the Croissants in the morning , immediately we would walk again to fetch the butter and I would ask shall we get some jam !! And you would reply it’s to early . So back to the Benny and yes you would say let’s get some jam. That’s why it took 3 years to fix a diesel leak.

Don't trust the AI to get it right either.
It suggested a battery for my neighbours car that would not have fitted into the battery box.
Typing the registration number into any number of motor factors gave the correct result.
I pointed out the error of its ways, and it replied along the lines of "Oh, that's interesting. Would you like to see tips on how to fit it?".
