I've got 3x 86 ah Numax batteries, 2 domestic and one engine. I haven't had any problems except couldn't get more than about 13.4 v and had a drop test done last year recommending replacement. So I duly acquired 3 replacements although subsequently noted in brokers description that they were 2010-2012 vintage. Today found to my annoyance found that the two house batteries were showing green good condition indicators so thought pointless replacing those just changed the engine starting battery. However contrary to what the broker said (shock) the age markers that numax have indicates that the house batteries cannot be newer than 2006 and 2009 respectively.
I don't like to ditch good batteries but would you replace them with my new ones anyway? I don't know whether I could store new batteries for a year or two or would I be better putting them on ebay?

I scrapped a Numax battery which was utterly dead but showing the green condition indicator.

If I were in any doubt I would have them tested again before a season's use. I thoroughly recommend Multicell on the industrial estate at Broughton Astley. They are battery specialists who are into boats. And if you scrap the old ones- Enderby Metals in Seine lane, Enderby.

If you store them, make sure you keep topping them up. Although if you've already spent the money, you may as well use them.

There should be nothing wrong with a battery from 2009 if it's been properly looked after. My domestics were replaced in 2009 and I still consider them almost as good as new.
