Hello
Hoping someone can help me!
I’ve two batteries one for engine starting and a domestic one… 75ah and 110 ah ..
They are charged by the engine via a voltage sensitive split charge relay with the starting battery being the no 1 ..
They are linked by a switch , 1 or 2 or both, which I think is the normal set up.
I’m looking to buy a mains charger , a smart one I can leave to do it’s thing when on the pontoon.
I’m looking at Victron chargers , my question is will the charger , charge both batteries, because of the split charge relay?
If so, what charger in terms of amp charge rate should I go for?
Or do I buy a charger that is designed to charge two batteries via individual cables?
Any advice would be appreciated!

A single output charger will charge both batteries using the VSR.

A 20a one would be a good choice and i would also go with Victron. Get the Blusmart one so you can see what's going on with an app' on your phone.

Thank you for your help, I’m looking at the Victron blue smartIP67 , they do a 17 amp then a 25 amp one … which would be the best?

Your 1-2-both will take care of charging the starter if you remember to switch it.
I would think 17A would cope well with just 2 batteries at a time, I charge 5 with a 20A Victron with no problems.
Thanks, given I have VSR, would it not charge both anyway?
I don’t really want to leave the boat with everything switched on… sometimes it can be weeks before I can get down to it…, hence the smart charger as I have mains adjacent to my boat on the pontoon!
