Charging Problem for the hard of understanding.

For a reliable continuity check the wires must be disconnected from both ends.
Looks like I have been overtaken by events, maybe, but Re my #40 I did wonder if the reading OP was getting RED to -ve on both batteries was indicative of a relay coil or some such in the circuit? He hasn't got a VSR tucked away somewhere? :ROFLMAO:
Some strange readings there?

Not sure if a VSR would do it, but something along those lines is certainly a possibility.

It's getting difficult to work out what's going on now, several of the figures don't make sense with the info we have and in some cases the readings haven't been taken how they should have been.

I now think #39 is the best way forward, making sure there isn't already a VSR or similar hidden away (that should be simple to determine, make the wiring changes before fitting the VSR, run one engine at a time and make sure doing so doesn't alter the voltage at the other battery.)

Sounds plan to get it sorted once and for all.

Agree. #41 strange? I am aware of #45. However, just a thought. Is the diode splitter wired up completely wrong and the RED wire is the ALT. the two BROWN the batteries? Still doesn't make a lot of sense from info available. But!
Also would be interesting to see what ohmic values the OP's continuity readings gave?
