Can anyone kindly point me in the right direction?

As a favour the SO volunteered to find info and prices for a battery charger. The French are now turning to UK as prices are far better.

As it's now down to the op of the computer, me, any help would be appreciated. I've started to 'surf' but there seems to be 100's.

The requirement is for a 30A 12v battery charger. I've no idea of the 'bank' size. Possibly a 2 'bank' option & not a 'smart' charger. Any recommendations please?

I should choose one from the Sterling range for reasonable cost and wide availability. They are all 'smart' though none are very smart but that's what people call them. Multi-stage is a better term. Don't consider anything other than a multi-stage charger for a boat, not for an instant. Just about all UK chandleries sell Sterling and much of the product is badged, from the Far East, I believe.

my marine 40A multi bank smart charger started playing up, I looked at suitable charges and the prices where horrendous. around £300 to £400.

I went to Costco and bought two workshop heavy duty Ring 22A smart charger /engine starter units, one for each bank for a grand total of £90, saved a packet, got two indepenent units so theres built in redundancy in my system, and if push comes to shove they will start my engine if I run my genny. All round result.

Thanks you all for your input, very interesting.

Seems it's impossible not to get a 3 stage charger these days. It seems that Sterling would probably be the best bet.

Thanks again.
