Battery charger consumption in float mode

How much energy should an on board battery charger be expected to consume if the batteries are fully charged and it is in float mode and nothing is switched on to consume any power (other than the charger) ?
Is 5.5kWh in a week more or less to be expected ?
I am guessing this could indicate one or more of the batteries is faulty? Or the battery charger could be faulty ?

have you left the hot water heater on? 5 Kwh in a week is a lot.

I wouldn’t even think that if it was fully operational all the time trying to charge and not getting to float...that it would use that. Take it the fridge isn’t on ?

my boat consumes less than that in a week in full season with 4-5onboard and two 80lt fridges on (recalling from the victron solar mppt log)

I'd rush and disconnect the charger and investigate

I can switch the power on/off remotely using an App. This records the energy use .
Its a new system just installed at the marina .

After letting it rest with no power for a couple of days I can have it switched on about 1hr 20mins and it uses 1p of electricity which is about 2.5 Amps at 12 Volts .Not far different to your table of results if I am understanding it correctly.

I'd rush and disconnect the charger and investigate

I don't feel it a big emergency. It would be easy to check from on board the boat but I don't feel it is appropriate to do so at the moment.
