battery bank over charging

i have ust installed 4 trojan t145s charged by 300 watt solar panels via amppt100130 victron regulatorand monitored by a BM2. The problem is the battery bank floats at 13.9/14v and some times even 15 any ideas whats wrong is this ok ? is there any adjustment i can make ? thanks for any advice .

You really need to fit the Victron Bluetooth dongle or USB cable, unless you have one of the later controllers with built in Bluetooth. When you do change the settings, change the auto battery voltage option to manual and set it to 12v, it's not unheard of for the controller to charge 12v batteries at 24v settings.

If you are only charging with 300W of solar, and nothing else, as long as you keep them topped up with water, you could be looking after them quite well, or even not charging them enough, given that you are only charging during daylight hours.

How many Ah do you use each day, and how many Ah does the BM2 tell you you are putting back in... it should be a lot more than your useage.

yes that's what the op is saying. Change the float abd max charge voltage settings on the Mppt controller. The manual will tell you how.

Before making any changes he needs to know what kind of problem the current settings are causing. When charging with a normal charger, or engine alternator, it is usual to watch for a tail current of about 1% of bank capacity... but I'm not sure it's as easy to monitor tail current with solar?

Depending on the sun where he is, it's entirely possible that he is undercharging, rather than overcharging.....

I don't even bother with float on the solar reg, set to 14.8v. Even then it's not a done deal to get back 100% every day.

Obviously different when not onboard.
