Barometer calibration

Your barometer should be set (in stable conditions) at the place where it is intended to be used. That way it will indicate the corrected sea level pressure. If you use it in your house then that is where you should set it. Do not take it down to sea level to set it because when you get it home it will read lower. I live on a 300ft hill and there (at 27ft /mb) the pressure is 11mb lower than at sea level. If I were to set my baro at sea level to 1013 then when I get it home it will read 1002.

[/ QUOTE ] I said that several hours ago but thanks for adding support anyway.

Enough of all this technical guff, Nick. Your main problem will be that you displace so much air that as you walk in and out of your house Karen can expect to see violent pressure swings on the dial, allegedly........

Doh!! You are quite right Vic. Was puzzled, but have Just re-read the original post saying that the barometer was for home use! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Obviously my recommendedation (set it at sea level) was for one intended for use aboard.
Yep, we set both of our home barometers at home. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
