Hi all,

We’re going to skip a summer with our small trailer sailer to give her cabin a bit of a tart up.

At the moment we’re stuck in a bit of a loop where it’s time to launch and we’ve only done the essential jobs.

Our YC is a 45 minute drive away so I’d love to move the boat closer to home (Canterbury) to work on it over the summer.

I’m looking for a roof overhead, as the deck gear is going to be coming off for a re-bed. Could be open fronted though.

I know a great option on the Isle of Grain which we’ve used before, but it’s a bit too far to be practical.

Does anyone know of a friendly farmer or yard nearer to Canterbury?

:)

You could try Britton Court Farm, on the right as you drive out of Tyler Hill heading north towards Chestfield. It's roughly where the 30 limit ends.

I can offer space short term (4 months) in my workshop in Harwich, good for 36ft hull, but probably too far to be practical.

How big is the boat? Farms are the best place to look.

Have you been drinking ?

He's trying to avoid a 45min drive, Harwich is about 3 times that

Take it home and get a scaffolder to put a tin roof over it.

Assuming you've got a driveway and some understanding neighbours, jobs a good'un....with the added bonus of refreshments and toilet facilities on site!

Depending on how much space you have at home have a look at Dancover boat covers they are surprisingly cheap and very good

Ellenden Farm, Foxes Cross Lane, Whitstable. They have a large barn at the rear in which they store caravans and motorhomes, and I have seen the odd boat there. Haven't got the number, but it's on the caravan club website. The only drawback is the place is accessed through narrow lanes. But we could get a sprinter with trailer down them.

Some great suggestions here, thanks everyone.

xyachtdave - we do have a driveway that would fit the boat. Only issue is the road is narrow and so is the entrance. We have trouble getting our estate car on there so am not sure it would be doable to reverse the boat on.
