Hi,
We are thinking of a bareboat charter in Croatia in August.
Has anyone any experience on good sites/forums for bareboat rental in the Split area?
Thanks for any comments

Googling "sailing boat charter Croatia" should give you all the options ..... the majors like Sunsail and The Moorings and all the dozens of local companies all have bases in the Split area as it's the best area to start from. However check the minimum qualifications needed to charter in Croatia before you book.

Thank you Richard. I did googled and found a lot of companies so thought I should ask here for tips. Sunsail and The Moorings only had a few boats in the area and seamed quite expensive.
We are licensed skippers

Have a look at www.latesail.com They handle discounted yachts for over 700 medium and large size charter companies. Keep an eye on the site price for the boat you want for Split and other bases in Croatia and then make an offer on' Name your price' - to find it click on 'Request a quote it's underneath. On the airline front European airlines offer their best price three months ahead so book charter then airline. Global airlines prices e.g. Caribbean are best price at six months.

Anyone else got any feedback on Nautilas in Croatia? There pricing seems a lot more reasonable than Sunsail or Moorings. I'm after a 34-36' 3-cabin boat for next year.
Also, GlobeSailor seem to have appeared as a search gateway any feedback on them?

I chartered two boats with them from Pula this year and had great service from the local company. Nautilus is an agent. They are very good at choosing local partners. I have used them many times in the past always with satisfaction. I believe that the company changed hands last year but I did not notice a difference.

I have chartered many times with Nautilus in Croatia and would thoroughly recommend them. The one year we had duff starter battery on the Thursday and it took them all day to fix it (they would not let me join up the leisures) as we were a two day sail away they let us night sail, which is fun out there, and when we got home within a couple of days they had sent us a hefty sum in compensation.

Book direct with the local charter fleet managers, often 30% cheaper. Kroki and Adria Nautic are two that springs to mind, we've used them and most of those in Sukosan near Zadar at some point, really much cheaper than 3rd party agents and same boats.

For "low touch" and cheap flotilla with cheap boat as above, try amorgos.nl.

Whats sort of boat would you like to charter and where?
We bought three years ago Etap 23 and we left her in Rovinj, Istria, about 40 nm from Venice
Amazing sailing...Five weeks avery summer
There is a small helpfull charter in Split, central Adriatic: http://www.elan19.com/, I think he have a new slightly bigger boat now...

Yep!
We love Rovinj
We can meet up there this August, I'll will buy beer! I don't know if you know they rebuilding marina this year...
Less berths apparently, more expensive...
Mind you, we hardly ever use marina in Croatia.., anchor or bouy.

That's a kind offer. :)

We're actually based much further South in Primosten (Kremik) and called into Rovinj en route to a few days in Venice. In 2017 we'll probably ring the changes and head "down" to the Ionian.

One day though ...... :)

We have booked to go in June from Dubrovnik . Used Latesail.com. Got a better deal from them than we could booking direct. If you fancy going from Split and fancy some entertainment look at YouTube for "yacht week Croatia"

There are a couple of outfits at Trogir- just a few KM (a taxi ride) from Split Airport. We have twice now done a flotilla, and this year are hoping to go bareboat. Last year we upgraded from the "normal" flotilla boat to a Bavaria 40 from Hramina Marina, on Murter Island, but still were part of the flotilla. This is where we hope to go to this summer. It is about equidistant between Split and Zadar airports, and I believe a taxi one-way is c 100EU. Of course, Croatia uses the Kuna, but a lot of pricing is done in Eu.
